Revolutionizing Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) for cancer

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) uses light to irradiate solid tumour. Tumour is injected with light sensitive drug, which is destructive when excited with light. This is a localized treatment with minimal side effects to region not excited with light. At Ascension Onco-Therapeutics, we are revolutionizing PDT, by providing highly efficient and wireless PDT options for each specialized cases. Our research, has identified keys to increase efficacy and enable wireless light delivery for repetitive PDT (non-invasive). We can assess individual cases to determine the best PDT intervention. Treatment is a simple outpatient procedure and can be performed on demand when recurrence occurs or as needed to shrink tumour sizes. Our technology is based on our years of preclinical research (Dr. Daniel) in collaboration with veterinary expert (Dr. Ly). Several factors influence PDT efficacy, including the suitability of light sensitive drug (photosensitizer) towards the right tumour. Our research has shown different photosensitizers possess different therapeutic efficacy to tumors. Additionally, the manner of light excitation is as critical in determining the efficacy. Effective PDT can be seen immediately in a week or so. PDT evokes the immune system to clear up dead tumor debris, with more immediate effect.
